Position Summary

The Phanstiel Lab at UNC (http://www.unc.edu/~dphansti) is looking for a talented postdoctoral researcher interested in the role of DNA looping in monocyte and macrophage biology. Interested applicants should have experience in at least one of the following categories: innate immune response, genome editing with CRISPR/Cas9, genomic library preparation (ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, etc). Applicants with a strong background in immunology are preferred. The applicant will lead an independent research project looking at the mechanisms of DNA loop-based regulation of key pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory genes in human macrophages. Specific duties will depend on the skills and interest of the applicant but could include optimizing genome editing techniques for innate immune cells or establishing robust protocols for genomic library preparation. Our research is highly interdisciplinary and involves cutting edge DNA sequencing technology, bioinformatic analysis, and genome editing. We encourage applicants looking to develop new skills in these exciting areas.
