The Enterprise Application Division is responsible for the ConnectCarolina project, which provides the University community with a fully integrated administrative infrastructure that supports efficient and effective business processes related to student services, human resources, payroll and finance.

Position Description

The Change Management Specialist is a key team member of the ConnectCarolina Change Management team, which handles communications, training, and user engagement activities for the ConnectCarolina (PeopleSoft) system and companion systems. The Change Management Specialist works with the Change Management Manager to develop and execute strategies for managing the people side of change for ITS Enterprise Applications initiatives.

Work activities include analyzing stakeholders for change initiatives, developing change management-related communications campaigns, coordinating and facilitating user engagement activities, developing change roadmaps for project leadership, and conducting readiness assessments.

The Change Management Specialist has an extensive knowledge of the tools and techniques available for change management (including communications and process analysis) and leverages them to ensure changes related to ConnectCarolina are adopted as quickly and smoothly as possible. The Change Management Specialist also provides graphics support for change management and training activities.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Experience in a change management, communications, or business analysis role.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to tell a story and strong presentation skills. Ability to write and speak in a clear, approachable, and professional style.
  • Familiar with change management concepts, tools and techniques, especially related to communications, stakeholder identification and management, and user engagement.
  • Excellent people skills. Able to interact professionally and constructively with faculty, staff, and students across campus even under challenging circumstances.
  • Able to influence and build relationships within the department and across the University. Strong negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and techniques.
  • Able to act with a high degree of independent decision-making.
  • Experienced at designing and organizing content for professional websites.
  • Complies with and gives input to the Change Management Team’s review process and style guides.
  • Able to develop an understanding of the University’s structure, policies, concerns, and sensitivities and reflect that understanding in approaches to communications and change management activities.
  • Able to cope with change, uncertainty, shifting priorities, and demanding deadlines. Remains flexible and focused when priorities change, even if changes result in rework.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with SharePoint administration. Experienced with planning large events. Experience with website development. Experience with a communications or change management role at a University. Experience with WordPress. Graphic design skills. Certification with a change management methodology. Project management certification. Experienced with social media and understands how to use social media tools effectively for University faculty, staff, and students.
