The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks applicants for the position of Enterprise Reporting and Data Warehouse Manager in the Enterprise Applications (EA) division of Information Technology Services (ITS). Enterprise Applications is responsible for the ongoing support of all enterprise business applications for the University. Business areas supported include student administration, human resources, payroll, finance, facilities, and public safety.

Position Description

This position reports to the Senior Director of Student Administration Systems and Enterprise Reporting. This position is responsible for managing the resources and work in support of UNC-Chapel Hill’s Enterprise Reporting Team including SAS reports, InfoPorte reports, the enterprise data warehouse and tools that are used by central offices, schools, and users across campus. This includes reports and data marts that support finance, human resources and student administration operations.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Serving as the manager for the analysis, design, development and implementation of IT solutions required for Enterprise Reporting and the Enterprise Data Warehouse

  • Providing project management support to key projects, and provide mentoring to staff to develop their project management skills

  • Meeting regularly with customers to identify work items and prioritize emerging work

  • Supervising a team of resources delivering and supporting reporting and data warehouse solutions for customers across campus, as well as other departmental applications.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Math, Engineering or other related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years progressive experience in the field of information technology; or
- Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years progressive experience in the field of information technology; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and manage the total competencies of technical development staff. Skill in seeking sources and opportunities for employee training and growth. Ability to direct the management of program and staff resources
  • Ability to create, monitor and maintain daily operational processes that support an enterprise data warehouse
  • Solid understanding in the areas of IT management, development processes and tools, preferably tools that support a reporting and data warehouse environment
  • Knowledge of best practices for software development, implementation and support
  • Strong organizational skills and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of people management principles and processes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five or more years of progressive management experience in a software development environment preferred
  • Knowledge of business applications development life cycle preferred
  • Experience managing an enterprise data warehouse environment preferred
  • Knowledge of reporting tools, SAS tools in particular, preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications
Special Physical and Mental Requirements

Ability to work under stress related to production and project timelines; work requires only minor physical exertion and/or physical strain.
