Position Summary

The Stein lab is interested in how genetic variation influences brain structure and leads to neuropsychiatric illness (see We are utilizing recently developed tissue clearing approaches to image mouse brain samples (currently) and eventually human brain samples in 3D at cellular resolution. This project will initially involve mapping deficits in a neurodegeneration mouse model across the brain and working with data scientists to analyze and visualize these complex 3D images.

Position will study brain structure of mouse and human using tissue clearing methods and confocal or lightsheet microscopy. Extensive interactions will be held with data scientists who are developing computational algorithms to analyze, share, and distribute this data.

Educational Requirements

Candidate must possess an M.D. and/or PhD.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidate should have extensive expertise in microscopy & immunolabeling. Some programming experience (R, Python) is a plus, but not required.

Mouse surgery, and colony management including genotyping, is required in this position.
