Position Summary

The Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology, and the UNC Center for Heart and Vascular Care have openings for three faculty positions for General Cardiologists. 1) The first position will be based at the UNC campus in Chapel Hill. Responsibilities will include outpatient cardiology (potentially including an outreach clinic), attending on inpatient cardiology services, interpreting echocardiograms, and teaching of medical students, residents and cardiovascular fellows. An interest in cardiovascular research (and especially in imaging) with a proven ability to attract extramural funding is a plus. 2) The second position will be based in Rocky Mount, NC where the Division of Cardiology is building a full service practice. Responsibilities will include providing inpatient and outpatient cardiology care, interpreting echocardiograms and nuclear perfusion studies, and performing stress tests and other non-invasive cardiology services. Development of strong collaborative relationships with the hospital based and referring medical community is essential. The successful candidate will have the option of spending a day a week at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill where responsibilities may include outpatient clinic service, echo interpretation, and teaching of cardiovascular fellows, residents, and medical students. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to practice independently are essential. 3) The third faculty position will be based at the UNC campus in Hillsborough. Responsibilities will include inpatient and outpatient cardiology, diagnostic cardiology including interpretation of echocardiograms and cardiac Nuclear Medicine imaging.
The successful candidates will have M.D. degree, Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease, and advanced training and Board Certification in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology are strongly preferred. Individuals will join an interdisciplinary group providing the full breadth of cardiac and vascular services.

Educational Requirements

M.D. degree. Board Certification in Internal Medicine and Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease. Advanced training and Board Certification in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology are strong preferred.

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidates will be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease. Advanced training and Board Certification in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology are strongly preferred.
