Description of Work

Facilities Services Division, Housekeeping Services Department, is recruiting for part-time Housekeeper(s) to work in the residence halls during the current academic year, summer break and between semesters.

Housekeeping Services is committed to fostering a culture of civility and respect for its diverse workforce and is seeking employees who strive to achieve excellence and promote collegiality.

Additionally, Housekeeping Services is comprised of a staff of more than 400 employees who provide 24 hour service by providing daily cleaning service and floor care for approximately 245 buildings on campus.

Employees provide daily routine and detailed cleaning of assigned campus building interior and exterior areas, including but not limited to: student residence halls and apartments, offices, lounges, restrooms, classrooms, entrances, exits, and stairways. Duties also include vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal. Cleaning of restrooms includes but is not limited to: disinfecting floors, toilets, showers, sinks and fixtures, as well as, detailed cleaning of vacated student residence halls and apartments as needed.

Education and Experience

Minimum Education and Experience:
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special certification may be required for some of these positions.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Work requires demonstrated ability to understand and follow work orders and product instructions; must have flexibility to adjust work schedule.

Preferred Education and Experience:
Six (6) months of institutional experience preferred; strong preference for housekeeping experience in a university housing or medical setting and experience working with commercial cleaning equipment.

Special Physical and Mental Requirements

Work is routine and repetitive in nature and may require strenuous physical exertion. Applicants must be able to lift /move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Employees are required to adhere to safety requirements by wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.
