Position Summary

The UNC Division of Nephrology and Hypertension is seeking a nephrologist at the rank of Clinical Professor for a fixed term appointment. Primary responsibilities are in two overlapping fields—general nephrology and dialysis. First, the candidate will be closely involved in the care of patients with chronic kidney disease, especially those with end-stage renal disease. He/She will be expected to see patients in outpatient dialysis clinics that provide hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis for a minimum of 6 months per year. In addition he/she would, on occasion, be expected to provide inpatient nephrology consultation and attend on the inpatient nephrology service. The faculty candidate will provide expert outpatient consultation in general nephrology. This position will also serve as Fellowship Director. Responsibilities will include fellow/resident/student teaching. The opportunity for clinical research will be available.

Educational Requirements

An MD is required and candidates must be BC/BE in Nephrology.

Qualifications and Experience

Prior experience in both outpatient and inpatient dialysis is essential as the candidate will spend the majority of his/her time in the care of hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients, and time providing in-patient consultation to physicians from other disciplines.
