Position Summary

The TEACCH Autism Program at the University of North Carolina began in 1972 as a system of university-based regional centers to serve children, adolescents and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families. As part of the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the program has an active clinical, teaching, and research program. TEACCH operates 7 community regional centers across the state and a vocational/residential facility for adults with ASD. TEACCH has a long tradition of training Psychology Interns and Postdoctoral Fellows in both clinical and research activities.

Fellows will participate in a combination of clinical and research activities depending on the specific training plan goals. Clinical opportunities include diagnostic evaluations, individual sessions, and group treatment activities for individuals with ASD across the lifespan. Research opportunities include working within our early intervention research program under the direction of Dr. Lauren Turner-Brown (Assistant Director of TEACCH) or in our transition to adulthood/adult outcomes research program under the direction of Dr. Laura Klinger (Director of TEACCH).

Educational Requirements

Completion of a PhD/PsyD in clinical, school, or developmental psychology, education, speech language pathology or related discipline.

Qualifications and Experience

Requirements include previous training in clinical and/or research activities in the ASD field.
