Position Summary

This postdoctoral research position will be working in Dr. Patricia Miguez’ laboratory located in the UNC School of Dentistry. The focus of this laboratory is protein biology applied to tissue engineering and matrix-modulation of oral diseases such as periodontitis and caries. We are primarily interested in the function of ECM proteins in mineralized tissues. Additionally, we are conducting in vitro and in vivo studies to understand the effect of natural compounds in cell and matrix behavior and properties. This position will be responsible for conducting one major project as well as participating in several other side projects as specified by Dr. Miguez. These projects will require the utilization of rodent models of osteoporosis and aging, various cell and molecular assays, and a repository of human samples to understand the effect of phytochemicals on bone healing.
